I agree with taking an adult dog as a pet. In shelters, the puppies are often adopted, while older dogs are often ignored. Puppies are ADORABLE, but the older dogs often have already been house trained. That means there are not as many messes to clean up. They often are passed the chewing phase. I have lost many shoes to puppies in my life, and I even lost a retainer to a puppy once. So there are plenty of reasons to take home an adult, with cleanliness and money being only two.
